Belichick Praising a Player?

I still haven’t figured out a way to wrap up the Red Sox season, I’m just in shock. So why not move to the story of the week? That would be the Patriots-Colts game on Sunday. So much has been written about the match-up already, that every area of the game is pretty well covered – except the punters who some expect to have the day off.

I caught two interesting interviews with Bill Belichick. Much of the time he doesn’t seem to have much of value to say. In fact, I often joke with friends about possible future “Belichickian” quotes such as, “We focused our efforts this week in having more points on the score board than our opponent.” Before the dynasty, these kind of quotes drove me mad. I’ve learned to love the creative way he can say absolutely nothing. With that said, read these two articles where he says something:

  • In this interview with the Chicago Tribune, he says the following about Randy Moss, “Any receiver could watch [Moss] run a route and learn something from it. Coaches learn something from it.
  • In this NBC Sports article he talks about the media coverage as well as the 21-game winning streak in 2004. It’s interesting that he would talk about that at all. He’s usually not one to bring up the past when the present is the story. He tied it into this week’s game well, so it wasn’t just a random discussion.

  • A bit of a random comment, if you don’t mind. I just found this site through your money site, and wanted to commend you on the great picture from Churchill!

And from the Land of Mora, who gave us “Playoffs?! You wanna talk about playoffs?!” Belichick has a long way to go.

Oh, and one more thing…Go Colts!
