Does anyone care about this World Series ball? I thought the 2004 ball was a big deal, but this one didn’t come after the long layoff.

ESPN has a good read on DiceK today. Jayson Stark argues that he hasn’t been a disappointment. In my opinion the hype was too high for expectations. I remember reading that a couple of scouts in March had said the Cy Young Award was his to lose this year.

I’m close to buying Stark’s argument that he hasn’t been a disappointment, but there’s one weak link in the article. He compares DiceK to other “rookies” at times. While it’s his first year in the majors, he has more experience than most rookies. It makes me a little suspicious about the comparison.

One thing is for certain though. Just like JD Drew’s 14M grand slam, there’s a chance that DiceK can earn a huge chunk of his paycheck in a few hours.

Here are a couple of thoughts from the game last night:

Schilling seems to have nothing left physically, yet he is able to do so much.

The bullpen came up huge last night. This would be a good time to have a Gagne lead in game 3 so that we can rest them.

Troy Aikman is a Red Sox fan? Since win did this happen. I’m not the driver of the bandwagon, but I don’t think we enough room for him.

Taco Ellsbury keep coming up with ways to make me happy. I’d still like to see him hit a little better, but he’s better than Coco.

Holliday has to have one of the worst 4 hit games in the history of the baseball by getting picked off at a key time.

It’s good to see Dwight Evans again, even if he’s just reading the line-ups.
